Thinking of a friend

I made a card for a friend/co-worker that is in the midst of battling breast cancer.  This is the 2nd person in my department in the last 1-1 1/2 years that has had this horrible diagnosis.
The team that she is on decided to come up with cards/gifts for her to open up each day as she goes through chemo.
This is my contribution, I think it turned out pretty well.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things you can find it here . The die I used is also from MFT.  I love their products, one of my favorite places (I have many) to buy stamps.

Christmas is just around the corner... hard to believe!   Happy Holidays to my followers..... the handful that I have!

This and that

The holiday season is here!   I'm working on a few projects for the holidays, ever year I seem to run out of time, so I decided that I'd start early this year and come up with ways to get my projects done.  I have an hour at lunch, so I have decided to prepare and pack things for me to complete during my lunch time.

But before I share that, I want to share my card I made for OWH Sketch #148

This is the sketch details

I didn't use a "tag" but I had this die that I wanted to use and the sentiment was something I wanted to use as well.

Here is my first project.  I saw this santa treat bag on Pinterest and decided to add "handles" which would be his suspenders, I thought they needed to be sturdy so I used some heavier weight card stock, I don't like the buckling, so I will revert back to a lighter weight cardstock. I addeed some white where his buttons goes that wasn't on the one I saw posted.
I bought cheap lunch bags and next time will spend a little more so they are sturdier.  I did put a cardboard piece in the bottom to stabalize the bottom.  I'm going to fill them with some other little projects I have wanted to do.  I also think they need a tag or something, so that is something I will add.

I have always wanted to wrap nuggets so here is my prototype of them.  They are in a pretzel bag and then I used my Nestabilities (Labels 8) to create the topper.  Not entirely pleased with it, but I have some time to develp this.

Along with my Christmas projects, I have my card making for Operation Write Home, my next deadline is for Valentine's Day, so in the next few weeks, I will be working on getting a few Valentine cards done and some general "love" cards.  If you like making cards, you should check them out here

The countdown begins!!!   I hope the two (maybe not even that) people that see/read this had a nice Thanksgiving!

Stay tuned for my other attempts at being crafty...

Happy November!
I'm not sure where October went, but it's over and here were are in November.    I made this card for my sister's birthday.  After taking the picture I wish I would have distressed the designer paper so you don't see the white "core" of the paper.  Details, details.

This stamp is from Bugaboo (not the digi versions) with the character "JJ" and called cupcake.  You can find the stamp here

The paper is all miscellaneous that I have in my stash, the card stock is most likely Recollections brand and not sure on the designer paper.  Stamped with Memento black ink and colored with my Copic markers.

I like using digital stamps too and on Friday's there is a freebie on the Bugabook website, check it out here

I need to get moving on my Thanksgiving cards as well as Christmas, not to mention working on Valentine cards for Operation Write Home.

I hope you voted today.... listening to the results now, I will need to go to bed soon and find out the results in the morning.

Time is sure flying by, October is coming to a close and I have yet to get my Halloween cards made.  I am sending out my Christmas cards to OWH (Operation Write Home) this week.  Thank you Lynette for adding to the box, our troops will appreciate the holiday cards.  You can see her blog here

Now for some pictures from last weekend with my niece and her family. Funny thing I don't think I got them into the pictures...... I think I was just as excited to see the animals....

Pictures from the Indianapolis Zoo

Now for a card.  I created this card in response to a post by one of the people I "follow", you can find the post here.  I make many, many cards for the trips and do enjoy it, but sometimes I see something like this and feel I need to take the time to create a card and send.  Trust me, I have TONS of stuff stashed in my "craft room".  So this is what I created

I used the stamp set from My Favorite Things Pure Innocence "Poppy".  The designer paper I found at Michaels and is My Minds Eye 6x6 stack.  My understanding is this is discontinued, but is being re marketed at Michaels.  I have bought multiple of these 6x6 pads with my 40% and 50% off coupon.  I can't resist.   This particular pad was called "Moments".

The card base is bazzill cardstock, not sure of the color but it is a dark blue.

I used my Copic markers to color her in...... I have to say that coloring with them is something you have to practice, practice... and of course have decent paper.   I have practiced, I think I need to try better paper!

Anyway, I am just going to use the sentiment that came with the set "sending smiles", I hope that is encouraging enough.  I'm really not sure what to say under these circumstances.

So, I have a few new followers!  Wow!   The blogger world is very nice and thanks for the comments..... I need to comment back, I guess eh?

OWH Sketch #142

Yesterday OWH (Operation Write Home) posted Sketch #142 on their Stars and Stamps blog

This is my card for the sketch , my plain paper is Recollections from Michael's and the DP (designer paper) is Bo Bunny Apple Cider Collection.  The sentiment is Hero Arts (CG132) Clings, this set has 3 sentiments, this one another one that says Thank You and the last one You're So Special.  A very nice set for the cards I make for OWH.

It was a beautiful day in Central Indiana, my favorite team (Green Bay Packers) won on Sunday night football.  My niece and her family came from OH for a visit.  We went to the zoo and the Children's Museum.  I'll post some pictures later.

Have a great week....

The Day after...

Wow, that was fun!  So many nice comments and suggestions for photo editing software.  Thanks everyone for such kinds words and encouragement.
I have to admit seeing it all come together was fun, so I will keep my eye out for another blog hop and participate.

I spent today freezing, well not quite but it was cold, tailgating in downtown Indy for the Packer/Colts.  My beloved Packers did well the 1/2 half, but seem to loose their steam.  Oh well, it was a fun game.

Funny thing, and maybe this happens in every city that has a NFL team, they just "assume" that if you are for the "other" team that you must be from Wisconsin or whatever the opposing team is

One fan came up to our van and wanted us to unroll the window...... his comment was "hey, I think we won the game" (really Mr. Obvious, we were there, we know)..... hey, have a safe trip home it will be a long drive thinking about the loss..... oh, and thanks for spending your money in our town.....  course we replied.... "we live here, in one of the burbs"..... he had that deer in the headlights look.

So it was a loss for the Packers........ and I think a loss for my fantasy football team (I am 0-4 in that)... not sure why I bother, but it is fun.

Again, thanks so much for your comments, I need to figure out the "individual" comment thing too, so I apologize that I may not thank you all individually.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Welcome to the Operation Write Home bloghop for World Card Making Day.  I created this blog for the purpose of participating in this bloghop.  I follow lots of blogs and decided I would try this.  My blog is very simple because I just don't find the time to devote to it like I would like.  Maybe someday it will happen, but I'm sure with practice it will be easier.

First, some housekeeping....... to head back to the Operation Write Home bloghop "starting point" if you click on the image below it "should" send you back.  In theory of course it should work, it doesn't mean that it will!  <wink>

or if the image doesn't work, here is the link for Operation Write Home  bloghop

For this hop we were to create a card for winter using a sketch from the OWH site.  They have LOTS of sketches and unlike other blogs, this one give you measurements!! I love it cause when I see other cards on blogs, I'm trying to "guess" what the size of all the pieces are.  I usually never get it right, so this is an easy place to start.  Check the sketches out here

I decided to use sketch #119

And using the Four Seasons hostess set (Stampin Up!) here is my card. The sentiment is from a retired set (Happy Winter).  I apologize that I don't have any photo editing software (yet) to be able to do the colors justice.  I will have to play around with my lightening too. But none-the-less, here is my card.

I had time to do another card so here is my 2nd sketch effort, this is based on sketch #2

And here is the card.... a little is changed...

Hey, do you notice the difference in the pictures.... same camera, I just used different lighting.. wow, less than 24  hours of working on this post and I had an improvement.....

This stamp set is from C.C. Designs Suglarplum Snowmen a very cute set than I rarely use.  I have lots of stamps sets like that..... The paper is SU Olive Olive and Rose Red (two of my favorite colors) and the DP (designer paper) is My Mind's Eye  Wonderful Winter glitter  holiday pad.

Thanks for stopping by and please make some cards for OWH.... or donate to this fabulous organization. Don't forget to check out all the other people have decided to join the OWH bloghop for World Card Making Day 2012.

Happy hopping!

Time is ticking away for the World Card Making Day 2012.  I'm hoping to schedule a post early in the a.m.  Since I'm new at this, my guess is that I have a 40/60 shot (40% chance of me getting it to actually post).

I'm admiring the people that post all the time, cause it has to be quite a bit of work.  The cards they make, the pictures and descriptions are amazing. I know they must spend alot of time to have things look so good....... that is something I'd like to strive for.

So, I'm off to post this and then work on a card(s) for Saturday.....

Oh, and then hubby says... hey, there is a pep rally for the Packers/Colts game.... (we are Packer fans), let's go.  I said... Saturday is a BIG day for me..... but I guess I can work both in.....

GO PACK GO!!

A little trip...

I decided to take a break from work and crafting and visit my family in Ohio.  My mother is 91+ and it is sad to see how our bodies and minds start to fade.  I wonder if this my fate... I don't think I want to live as long as she has.  Her husband (my dad) has been gone 20 years.  She has two sisters that are still living, but the rest of her family is gone.  Grand kids and great-grand kids are enjoyable, but most of her friends are gone, or in nursing homes.  I am grateful that she can get around like she does... But know that one slip, fall or "spell" could drastically change things.

So card making is taking a break, but my card magazines are with me and I am sure I will be looking at blogs...

Happy card making!

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge with Lawn Fawn

My first post/blog with a picture first stab at it!   This week’s challenge is to make cards for kids and include scallops.

I used Spellbinders rectangles to create the image and then the scallop rectangle.  I do love my Spellbinders.... I have a ton (well not really a ton, but you know what I mean).  The bunny is "Winter Bunny" from Lawn Fawn.  I do love the stamps, they are high quality and give a great image to color.  I was going to use Copics on the little guy, but decided to use my SU blender pen.  I haven't used that in awhile.
The ribbon is something I picked up with coupon ages ago at either Michael's or JoAnn's.

So with that said.... let's see how this looks:

Alrighty then.... must work on a better method of posting pictures..... will have to get some tips from some of the blogs/friends that have awesome pictures posted.

September 4 2012

So I have finally decided to take the plunge and begin a blog.  I'm hoping to participate in the World Card Making Day in October and thought I'd give myself  a month to get use to blogging and then perhaps be able to post cards/challenges on my blog, or perhaps not... then it's back to the trusty Splitcoast Stampers website.

This is a work in progress, most people won't see these initial posts...
